Report a problem to the city (pothole, light, trash)
Updated: 2026-07-08
What it’s for
The City of Ottumwa has an online form called “Report a Concern” to flag things the city should fix: a pothole, a streetlight that’s out, piled-up trash or debris, a water leak, fallen branches and more.
This is not for emergencies. If there’s a fire, a crime in progress or someone in danger, call 911.
How to report online
- Open the Report a Concern form (link below).
- Choose the type of problem (street, lights, trash, water, etc.).
- Enter the exact address or location — the more specific, the faster it gets fixed.
- Describe the problem in a few words. If you can, add a photo.
- Leave your phone or email if you want an update when it’s resolved (optional).
By phone
If you’d rather talk to someone, call City Hall:
- Phone: 641-683-0600
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Address: 105 E Third St, Ottumwa, IA 52501
Tips
- Save the report number if the system gives you one.
- For an urgent water or sewer problem, call rather than only using the form.
This information is a general guide. Always confirm your case on the city’s official page.
